The Ocean Cleanup Project

Have you heard about the "The Ocean Cleanup" Project?

I read about Boyan Slat and his idea to clean the oceans of plastic debris this weekend on the Washington Post.  I followed up by watching this 2012 TEDTalk by young Mr. Slat explaining the problem.  I was convinced to donate to the cause.

I think the narrative of this ongoing environmental rescue operation shows why it is important to study the oceans, and imperative that we continue to educate ourselves and our children about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  This issue can inspire us strive for wise use of technology and engineering to maintain the vitality of our planet for ourselves and for those that follow.
